Tami, Arlo, and I are re-emerging into our worlds. We scare some people, and want to hide from others.
But we are getting it done, bit by bit. I’ve been so interested in not seeing people I know that I have been taking a left at the end of the driveway and going for groceries in Cary. Tami and I journeyed out to our beloved Chatham Marketplace two days ago. We came home feeling accomplished.
Tonight is the first night of the Shakori Hills Grassroots Festival of Music and Dance. It’s a “must attend” event in our family, so we readied ourselves with disguises. I figured I would lose my signature top hat and rose colored glasses. I went to Amy Kimmy for a transformative hair cut and shave. She changed my usual “doorknocker” facial hair into what she says roughly approximates a “disco” moustache. Move over Hulk Hogan.
Tami scored an Uma Thurman like wig and loaded up on lipstick. She looks like a cross between a Parisian runway model and the costume designer in The Incredibles.
That said, we are largely skipping Shakori this year. Heading there for church on Sunday morning at the Meadow Stage–a regular favorite of ours. Until then, taking baby steps into our re-entry into the world…
