Tami Schwerin was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, and graduated from Broughton High School.

She has been active in the business community for the past fifteen years, including international software sales and marketing that has taken her around the globe several times.

The births of her two sons brought her closer to the local community and caused her to increase her involvement in the arts, local charities and the community.

She was the driving force behind Abeyance, an ecological development of 450 acres, and she has renovated four recycled homes in the village of Moncure.

As the President of Chatham Marketplace, a locally owned whole foods grocery coop, she has raised over 1 million dollars in working capital.
